iPhone Sync

I just got an iPhone -- it is very cool but has several major defects that make it seem more of a toy than a full fledged productivity tool.
  • Microsoft Exchange Server Sync gets mail, contacts, and calendar. The set up was a breeze - but it does not sync task lists, notes, or journal entries.
  • There is no task manager of any kind supplied with the device!
  • It is not designed to sync with multiple computers.
The task manger / sync with Exchange Server problem is being addressed by Chapura KeyTasks for iPhone. It will sync over the air. But, it is pretty new and primitive -- released in August 2008 it doesn't include task categories. A version 1.1 is touted as complete and awaiting Apple approval. So, for now, it may be necessary to use something else. But what -- there are several other applications, all of which appear to be half baked.

This last problem has been hacked. The hack is summarized by Jason Striegel with a link to more details by Andrew Grant. And according to tiny fish, it works with iTunes 8. It also seems that there may be a way to authorize multiple computers to share the same iTunes music/podcast files as described in the online documentation. But, I'm not sure that I understand this yet. There's an article on iPhone Atlas about this topic -- but it seems not to have completely solved the problem -- or at least is not giving away the full story.
